Standard 12-Color Sequence
For most fiber optic cables, each fiber is color-coded in the following order to ensure easy identification during installation, splicing, and maintenance:
- Blue

- Yellow
- Violet
- Rose (Pink)
- Aqua (Light Blue) This sequence is repeated for cables with more than 12 fibers, often using tubes or bundles to organize fibers. For example, in a 48-fiber cable, the 12-color sequence is applied to each tube, and the tubes themselves are color-coded to differentiate them (e.g., Blue Tube, Orange Tube, Green Tube, etc.), .
High-Fiber Count Cables
For cables exceeding 12 fibers, the sequence repeats with additional markers such as stripes or binder rings to distinguish repeated sets. In some European or high-density ribbon cables, a 16-color sequence may be used for MPO connectors:
- 13: Olive
- 14: Magenta
- 15: Tan
- 16: Lime .
Jacket and Connector Color Coding
