Visually inspect the connector end-face with a fiber scope to check for scratches, dirt, or misalignment. Perform optical testing to measure insertion loss and return loss, confirming the patch cord meets performance specifications. Repeat cleaning and polishing if necessary .
Step 6: Cable Management
Once assembled, label the patch cord and route it according to network standards. Maintain proper bend radius and avoid sharp bends to prevent micro-bends and signal attenuation. Use patch panels or cable organizers to keep the installation neat and maintain long-term reliability .
