- Configure optional parameters: Set port speed, buffer-to-buffer credit (BB_SC_N), and loopback if needed. BB_SC_N ensures reliable frame delivery between FC interfaces .
- Assign to a VSAN or FCoE VLAN: For FCoE, associate the FC interface with a VLAN to separate storage traffic from regular Ethernet traffic .
Connecting Two Hosts Directly
Directly connecting two FC HBAs without a switch is possible but not recommended for standard networking. FC HBAs are designed for storage traffic, not general-purpose IP networking. Linux no longer supports IP over FC (IPoFC) in most distributions, so using FC as a simple network interface is generally unsupported .
