Clean the Fiber Use isopropyl alcohol and lint-free wipes to clean the exposed fiber. Any residue or dirt can significantly affect signal quality . 4. Prepare the Connector Slide the connector boot and crimp sleeve onto the cable. Inject epoxy or adhesive into the connector ferrule using a syringe, then insert the stripped fiber until it slightly protrudes from the ferrule tip . 5. Cure the Epoxy Place the connector in a curing oven (UV or thermal) to harden the epoxy. Follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions for curing time . 6. Cleave and Polish the Fiber Trim the protruding fiber with a fiber cleaver as close as possible to the ferrule tip. Polish the end-face using polishing films and a polishing puck to minimize insertion loss and return loss . 7. Assemble and Crimp Crimp the connector body and boot together to secure the assembly. Ensure the fiber is centered and aligned within the ferrule . 8. Test the Patch Cord Check the insertion loss and return loss using a fiber optic tester. If the results are not within acceptable limits, re-polish the connector end-face and retest . 9. Repeat for the Other End Perform the same steps on the other end of the fiber to complete the patch cord .
